This piece offers to create together with the audience the sensitive experience of the miracle. Dance doesn't perform itself but pushes into action.

In order to initiate the project for our 14th piece, we wanted to do something great and important, able to talk about what is relevant in our adventure as a company since its debut in 1998.

The meeting, the dimension of otherness in experimental devices, cross-over, emotional activity, reality, humour, empathy. We have been wanting to do a piece which resembles us and gathers, where every one of us would have time and space to find his freedom.

In order to do this, we needed an exceptional cast made by the main core of the company joined by a group of amateur dancers and singers. We wanted a big team, gathering people with various horizons and bodies, different ages and with different views about dance: a group who could be a small part of the world.

Amateurs joining the professional performers will be people who never had stage experience. Working with amateurs brings up meeting a new group in each hosting city, manufacturing the miracle together.

This choreographic jubilant and musical story is based on Vittorio De Sica's and Cesare Zavattini's movie "Miracolo a Milano". An optimistic life-giving film, full of poetry and humour, emphasizing humanism and the breadth of mankind. Thanks to solidarity, a miracle is always possible amongst the struggle between the weak and the strong: our group of poor all together agree with the logic of the unreal and magic. In this performance the movie characters can be found through the values they transmit, embodying each successively the ideas of sharing and generosity as well as cheating and domination. Starting with a burlesque and rampant mode, the performance increases and dance purifies.

The original music score composed by François Lopez, played by 5 musicians and joined by 15 choir members every hosting city, masterfully supports the choreographic narrative of this human fresco.

Like a dialogue between stage and orchestra pit, dance and music answer themselves. On stage, dancers mix up; you don't know who's who anymore, aiming to erase the difference between amateurs and professionals and facing a group giving us an irresistible urge to join them. The same fusion appears between the musicians and the amateur choir. On stage, as well as in the orchestra pit, everybody dances as a single body and acts with the same voice.

With an ongoing renewed will, our artistic approach is made of the world's life that surrounds us. We engage our look and our determination to every one without concessions. This project is freed from the contemporary dance bias and leaves space to the unthinkable, to paradox and to freedom of an offbeat vision.

Miracles happened in Nîmes and Perpignan on May 14th and 16th with two different amateur teams: they will happen again.

impressions of spectators :

" Miracle is a stunningly fresh and wonderfully entertaining production. With very few physical props, the superb music, dynamic dance and lively drama successfully managed to inhabit the entire stage which literally exploded with life before our very eyes!! We found ourselves wanting to take in every corner of the scene so that not even the smallest detail would be overlooked. The atmosphere was electric and we were completely gripped. It is a fascinating, funny, moving and at times surprising story which is so full of character. The combination of music and choreography works so beautifully, we enjoyed every minute, from beginning to end and when it was over, wished we could see it all over again! Many congratulations, Miracle is a truly original and completely breathtaking experience! "
